My buddy's Dad just passed on, and since my buddy doesn't reload, he gave me a pile of 6.5 and 375 bullets and about 5,000 primers from the late 60s. I'm going to load them until I get a dead one, and will keep records.
Also shot a pile of original '42 and '43 headstamp 45 ACP, and all worked, as did 30-06 from same years. It works if it doesn't get wet, and sometimes even when it does.
Bradshaw shot all those 10mms that had rotted away, I think they all worked.

I still have some CCI primers in the little green box marked 49 cents and they still work fine. Must be from around 1990ish. That's waaaaay back in the last millennium.

well... as others have said... it would not be good for the primer manufacturers... dead ammo, loaded a year ago, & guy gets killed because his ammo was duds... see lawsuits...
but I also have primers older than dirt, that I use all the time... so to clarify... old primers last years & years... IF ... they were to change the formula, it would have to be on newly manufactured primers... & the only way that would fly, is if the industry did it as a whole... it would also have to be widely announced, to stem any lawsuits, & if it was not industry wide, no one would buy the brands with the short shelf life, so in essence those companies would be out of business...
so I don't ever see this happening ( short of another "executive order" & the following challenges being lost ) which would all be highly publicized
