Does anyone know if these revolvers can stand up to the heavy 300+ grain loads from the boutique makers (Corbon,Buffalo Bore, Underwood...)? A local shop shop has 2 blued ones and I haven't seen any 4" Redhawks around. I think I know the answer, but would like your experiences and thoughts.
Thanks.

Shadow, I doubt it would hold up very long. What I really wanted to tell you is that Taurus seems to have gone nuts with their pricing, you can probably get a Blackhawk for around the same price and be happy for a long time. If you want a smaller frame go with the .44 special 4 3/4 inch. You will be pleased. Gallery of guns has them for $496 and I consider them (gallery of guns) to be a little high priced lately.

SHADOWMAN, you already know the answer here. THERE ARE NO FREE LUNCHES !! I have seen a RAGING BULL last thirteen rounds[13!! ] and was inoperable. What in the dickens is going to happen to a really lighter pistol of the same ilk ? Hellesbelles, I saw four TRACKER 41MAG's with cracked cylinders. And so it goes...

Thank you gentlemen. I sort of thought that gun was too light to handle a lot of heavy loads. What about the Federal 300 gr cast cores? Are they loaded higher pressure or just heavier bullets but with lower velocity?

The internet has the answer: Federal: 300gr CastCore 1160fps, 896 ftlb BuffBore: 300gr JFN 1300fps 1126 ftlb Recommended for STEEL Frame modern 44's. Not alloy frames "bullets may jump crimp" 305gr LFN 1325fps 1189 ftlb +P+ 340gr LFN 1478fps 1649 ftlb
It was my understanding that BuffBore loads are within SAMMI spec(except the +P stuff obviously), they just load it closer to max, whereas Most big brands download their ammo to make it safe for more users is more situations. So in theory, the gun is made to live at SAMMI specs and the ammo is within spec so they should live happily ever after. Too bad it probably won't work that way.

I'm glad to see that Terry Murbach isn't afraid to tell the truth about Taurus products. Don't waste your money on Taurus garbage! They are a poor product with soft parts that are of an inferior design.
Some people will defend them since they actually still have theirs and haven't done the right thing and sold it to the next sucker...
FWIW, Smith makes the Model 69 which is a 5 shot 4" barrel 44, like the Tracker.

I've tried Taurus twice, both were sent back to Taurus and both were promptly traded. One was the Tracker in .45 acp the other was the PT1911. Like Tek said, soft parts.
