I just finished a Ruger Bisley 45 colt project last night. I swapped out all the springs, installed a free spin pawl and Bowen rear sight. I had to file the pawl a bit to get it to cock the hammer every time. My question is if there is a way to tell if the timing is correct with the new free spin pawl in place?

The cylinder's individual chambers need to align with the barrel when the hammer is at full cock. Nothing more complicated than that. There are indeed many other "timing" options, i.e. getting the cylinder latch to drop much later which can totally prevent the "dreaded Ruger cylinder ring". When you are dealing with OEM cylinders you are pretty much stuck with what you have. Bottom Line? How's it shoot? All the trick parts in the world ain't gonna help a gun that's needing some basic help. Questions? www.gunbooks.com Look for Kuhnhausen's Ruger Single Actiion book. Don't put a lot of faith in us "internet" guys........do some homework instead. JMHO, Carl
