That's a nice one! Just picked up a 67-1 myself. Always liked Smith's K framed .38's.

TIME TO BRING THIS UP AGAIN !! It has been Dan Cotterman's and my experience that the rubber Pachmayr grips seriously degrade the accuracy of S&W sixguns in any caliber. Dan [ god rest his soul..] told me this first over 25[30?] years ago and I told him he was full of shiq. We bet a case of beer on it and I did the shooting at 25 yards off the sandbag rest. ALL of my S&W DA sixguns had Pachmayrs so we shot 'em that way first, two groups apiece of each's favorite load, then we switched to their wood stocks and did it all over again. Well now, turns out ol' Dan knew exactly what he was talking about as those guns averaged 2.54" with the Pachmayr grips and 1.52" with their proper wood stocks. The guns were K22, K32; K38, M19, M25, M57, M25-5, M29, AND I think I'm forgetting one now...Anyways all were 6" or 6 1/2" BBLS. ALL of the guns I had with Pachmayr grips had the wood put back on and the Pachs were sold at the next gun show. I only kept 'em on a 4" M19 custom RB DA. That is my story and I am sticking to it; BUY SKEETER SKELTON style stocks from BLUE-MAGNUM stocks as T.ADAM O'VICH knows his business stocking DA sixguns in fine style.

Axehandle: Got one just like it! A 14-3 that is. Was shooting at 25 yds the other day and fell in love again with SA shooting with a Smith&Wesson.
Yours doesn't have the blue wear around the muzzle, put a set of old diamond magnas, and a Tyler T for a retro look that fits my age bracket.
Shooting 148grain WCs with 4 grains of 231. After all these years and all the guns that cops handle, this old K38 is still a hoot to shoot.
God Bless

Ax, Mine is a no dash as well. It loves the standard 148gr. HBWCs in front of 2.7gr. of Bulls-eye.
Have fun.

Hi Terry. Why do the Pachmayer guns shoot worse? Not trying to be argumentative, but am curious as I just recently expereinced the same thing with my custom Colt New Service. For years I had a pair of the Pachmayer presentation grips on it and I thought I was shooting OK with it. Then this weekend, I swapped them out for a nice used pair of Herrets Troopers I bought used online a while back. I had the best day of shooting I've had in a long time. I thought it was just luck. Maybe not.

Thinking I'll be looking for a set of Herrett and Hogue grips in wood to play with...

Maybe not. Mergus FROM ALL OUR TESTING it appears that a DA sixgun with Pachmayr grips must bounce around slightly inside those grips while undergoing recoil. AND believe me, you CANNOT hold those rubber grips tight enough to negate the effect. I tried and I had really damn strong hands in those days. Also, the Hogue rubber grips with their very hard consistency do not appear to have the same effect. The testing here was only with two DA pistols and not nearly as extensive aa we did with the Pachmayr grips.

Huh. Thanks for getting back to me. I also have a Colt 1917 with Pach presentation grips on it. I think I will get some new wood grips for it also and see how I do with it.
