I have a few too many sticks in the fire currently with one FA and one custom in the works that I've been thinking of parting with my Turnbull Open Range with carved Ivory stocks. I'm not entirely sold on the idea just yet as I'd likely never be able to get a chuck of Ivory again, but have been considering it.... I like ivory but certainly could live without it. Thing is, there hasn't been too much concrete evidence that Ivory is in fact banned as of NOW since the discussion from us (and panic of other avenues like knife collectors and musicians). Anyone care to shed some light? I know we have a couple lawyers here... Worst case is I'm stuck with the SA... Oh damn! -Eric

From all I've seen, so far, no true "ban" on currently owned ivory items has been put into effect. Personally, I think I'd buy more ivory & tell Hussain to shove it.

That's what I'm seeing as well but then I read stories of musicians canceling orchestras, etc

My interpretation of events thus far is that the president issued an executive order for whatever group has the authority to ban and restrict as you've heard. However, the body with said authority has not yet enacted the ban or taken any action what-so-ever. Let's all hope and pray (and write letters) that the president's foolish knee-jerk reaction proceeds no further than it has.
Someone may come along and correct me if I'm mistaken or behind the times.

Well that makes it confusing.
So technically speaking if an executive order was made they could enforce it now even though they haven't officially enacted the ban?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm going to give it a shot and hope the black helicopter doesn't land on my driveway.

BIGBORES, thanks for the reminder about Boone Trading. They have discounted many of their ivory grips and I just ordered a set of one-piece For Colt SAA at a nice price.I was expecting the ivory prices to go up rather than down.
