This is mine. I purchase it in 1976 as a 45 Colt. A few years ago I purchased an ACP cylinder. It makes a great carry gun & I love shooting the ACP rounds. The sixgun This is Lyman's standard 45 ACP bullet but for some reason this mold drops the bullet at .457" which is fine for my BH which requires a .454" size. The bullet Load these on my 550 At the range with the Ruger & ammo. 7 yard offhand target fired fairly quick. This is a great combo. The bullet profile allows very quick reloads when fed from a 1911 magazine.

Very interesting, I'm loading some of these myself...
I bought 1000 NOS Remington 45 Autorim cases about a year ago from a forum member on another forum ( I think the thread was about 1917 Colts, of which I have one ) I got them for scrap price, so I had to have another gun to shoot that brass through, so I had my 30 Carbine Blackhawk converted to 45 Auto, with an extra cylinder ( unfluted ) in 45 Colt...
hope to shoot it more & experiment more this summer... my test loads so far are +P marked so I don't mix them up with mild loads for the 1917 Colt

Been keeping my loads on the same level as 1911 loads for now.

well... there is nothing wrong with your target, so looks like you have a keeper there...
I haven't started casting yet, though I got all my FIL's casting stuff after he died, & have been buying molds all along... I do have several 1000 FMJ & several 1000 bought cast 45 Auto bullets, & don't often shoot semi auto, so I'm more likely to shoot them up in the revolvers... right now, I've been using the cast bullets for the 1917, & the jacketed bullets for the hotter loads... been looking at 460 Rowland & such, for loads for the Blackhawk

I'm a casting nut & while I do shoot some jacketed stuff its very little. I'm cheap, what can I say? How 'bout a picture of your converted Ruger?

As I've posted before, I'm a big fan of .45 ACP single actions. My standard loads are a H&G 68 pattern 200 gr. SWC driven by 5 gr. 231 and a 230 gr. FN driven by 5.5 gr. 231, both using CCI 300's. Liberty Model convertible with some upgrades: Flat top convertible: .45 ACP only: FA 97 convertible:

well those are way prettier than mine ( this is one forum I hate to post pics on, because there are so many members with the really high end guns... I'd rather look at their pictures & aspire towards those )

LAH, I love that gun; it looks awesome! For some reason, I like the look of well-used Ruger's as much as I like the custom stuff. Ruger BH's truly are a working gun that will handle abuse, shoot straight, and carry well. My 45ACP is a 5.5 SS Bisley. I have sold most of my semi-auto .45's because I enjoy shooting this one so much.
Thanks for the pic,
Matt

Thanks Matt. That gun was purchased used in 1976. The guy who purchased it new fired only a few rounds & didn't like it. It's been with me ever since. Not quite 10,000 rounds through it yet so still plenty of life in it.

sad thing, is that is an old picture... a new one would have to add a couple more... as long as there are a couple empty spaces on the wall racks in my gun safe room, I seem to find the need to fill them

I have a similar Blackhawk from the mid 70's that I also found and fit a .45 ACP cylinder to. I have determined that it is probably my perfect field pistol. I reload a lot of ACP for my 1911's and the BH will shoot them in to tiny little groups. It's light, accurate and I can drop a 1911 magazine in my pocket when I head out to the field. What's not to like?

Ken.........the FT Conv....was that front sight pinned from the factory or did you machine & drill the base? Lynn, The sight base was pinned from the factory. The replacement undercut patridge blade was made by Gordon Logan. I do like the way your blued base was milled for a dovetail and replacement.
