Well maybe. I have had great hunts in BC, Alberta and Africa as well as a number of DIY hunts in the US Rockies. When I graduated from college in 1985 into what was a pretty well paying job (I thought) with a major oil company I had two things on the list after being a poor boy for so many years. A what was then mid-year Vette and a brown bear hunt. Little did I realize that my $30k/year salary would result in $1600 clear a month... So I did buy the Vette, a '65 327/365 that was a daily driver with my '79 CJ5 for 10 years. The bear hunt was history... Now as I contemplate retirement in the next year or two I have booked a brown bear hunt for 2016 on Chichagof Island in the northern part of the Inside Passage. I am thinking my old BRNO 375 H&H may see the bush.

Sounds like a great plan. But, I'd have to modify it a bit for my "dream hunt" idea. I'd prefer to use a handgun.

Ed, I know you have traveled & hunted a number of places around the world & that Brown bear hunt is for sure the hunt of a life time. I wish you the best & that old 375 will be dandy bear medicine. Looking forward to the write up, I'm guessing maybe a early May hunt?

Did a brown bear hunt in 2007 in unit 17. Used my pre 64 375 H&H with 270 failsafes. 9.5 foot bear didn't move after the first shot. I'm sure you'll have a great experience and grand time.

Dick,
Appreciate the kind words. After a year of work in Queensland I am now typing from Korea. I see deer speed by my office at the ship yard. Thick girths and short little legs just like the locals. :-)
mike454,
That bear is a beauty. I will be running the 270 gr TSX so would expect the same.
Whit,
The original dream hunt had a 375 H&H so that is what it will be.
aciera,
No pop-up peep on this. Considered having CZ-America add one but they want a chunk of change for it as it is a fair bit of work. I really can't using one either. The front sight is vertically adjustable so dialing the opens in was a cinch.

Dick, Whit, The original dream hunt had a 375 H&H so that is what it will be. Hey, not knocking your choice boxhead, just curious. I would jump at the opportunity to do this hunt -- even with a rifle, LOL! Be sure and keep us posted!

I actually have my wife lined up to come along. A boat based hunt where we will crab, shrimp and fish when not hunting. It will be a great trip whatever the result.

I'm with whitworth. My personal dream hunt like that would be with a handgun,,, BUT,, I fully understand YOUR choice! We all look forward to your stories when you return! (And pictures!)

Ed, that really sounds like an amazing hunt you have lined up. I know your many excursions around the globe, job related, have been both good & bad so your dream hunt will be very satisfying, especially since you are taking your wife. I'm with Whit, I'd do it with a handgun (sixgun) I'm pretty sure Tyrone would be packing a single shot of some flavor. Hope you get a "book" bear. Just got back to Idaho, enjoying 4" of fresh snow! Yowee!!

Actually Dick, if I were to be able to do this "dream hunt," I'd have to opt for a SA revolver. If you recall, I mentioned that once I hit 100 whitetails,,, I was gonna give that T/C a break. I now have my Barranti NW Hunter rig, (Thanks to seeing & trying yours,) and my El Dorado or my FA in 454 would be my choice of revolvers. I surpassed 100 this past season, so next season, the revolvers are gonna get a workout! I would LOVE to do a dream hunt for a big brownie like that.

Tyrone, you're in animal control, go up there & control one!! I'm thinking that Ruger 45 you brought to Idaho would work.

Boxhead, Wish I was going with you! You may remember that these photos were taken in Russia, where I was unable to use a handgun, but even the most avid handgunners can be happy with a rifle, when the occasion dictates. Who will you be hunting with on Chichagoff?
