Kinda surfing around and ended up here today. Had forgot I had registered years ago! Have a new to me toy, a 10.5" SBH that I intend to shoot some steel with this summer once I save up for Rx glasses. Looking for loading ideas that fit my diminished stock of components. Luckily I have my molds and "some" W-296....lol Anyway.....later!

296 is the right powder.

bucksowin.... Whether your 10-1/2" SBH is the original blued S4110N tapered barrel, standard ejector, ramp sight "Silhouette Super," or the KS411N stainless "Silver Hornpipe" with untapered barrel, .357 Maximum ejector, and screw-on blade sight, 296/H110 gets the most velocity, while IMR & H4227 is right behind, and Hercules or Alliant 2400 just behind that. Each powder capable of silhouette accuracy, by which I mean 5-to-6 inches @ 200 meters.
A blued version of the KS411N was prototyped from a Silhouette Super before the first prototype stainless SBH's were made. The blue "Hornpipe" is still made. David Bradshaw

Would post a photo if I knew how with this "dumbphone"...(in my hands at least) Nothing fancy, just a post warning blue 10.5" SBH in good shape... Now I'm pondering bullets as the only .44 mold I currently have is the RCBS 250K....Been thinking about maybe getting a RCBS 240 SIL or perhaps a heavier LBT LFN style. Opinions?

My absolute favorite bullet from the 10.5" is the RCBS 300SWC-GC bullet. It has shot lights out in every gun I've used it in and in the long barreled Supers, it's amazing. WLP primer and 21.5 of 296.

Thanks for the tip amigo...Interestingly, that's the same recipe I use with a 315K LBT bullet in my .45 Blackhawk....
