With all the talk about Super Redhawk's in 480 Ruger recently I found my used-sixgun antennae twitching. It didn't take long for me to find one (two, actually, in two different stores and after not seeing any for a couple of years) and it is the classic used big bore revolver: like new in the box, with a box of factory ammo with six fired rounds in it This is a pretty early SRH in 480, the fired case is dated 2/05/02 and the box of Hornady factory 325gr XTP's still has the price tag on it from August of 2001: $18.95. And they say there's no inflation.... Just a few days before I found this SRH I got lucky and snagged 250 385gr Miha HP's cast by Dick Thompson over on the Ruger Forum. I'm really looking forward to working up a good mid-range load (about 900fps) and seeing how this revolver performs at 100 yards.

I am jealous. Would love to find one of those at a GOOD price. My antennae are on the same station as your are obviously.

I've been using Trailboss in mine with good results. I'm using 6.5 grains behind a True Shot 355 grain bullet at 748fps. Jim

Thanks, I'm a big fan of Trailboss as well. I use it in everything from the 38spl to my 450/400 3" Nitro Express

I always thought that target grey finish was the coolest!

Am feeling old now. I cannot consider anything in a SRH, Classic. Sigh..

It's not the SRH that is classic but rather the condition it was in when I bought it, a condition typical of big bore revolvers on the used market: like new, with a box of ammo with only six spent cases inside.

Yup. Picked up mine in nearly the same condition about 2 years ago. Lots of factory ammo, and just a couple of spent shell casings.

Very nice! .480 Ruger has always interested me but I haven't owned one yet. I like the idea of big, slow, very heavy thumpers.

I found a used like new one a few years ago. Its a great shooter. Scoped with a 9.5" bbl the recoil feels less than my 5" BFR in .429 magnum
