I know this is a strange first post, However. I have been Playing around with Auto CAD lately. Drawing up cylinders for different revolvers in all kinds of oddball and wildcat chamberings. Recently i have been Trying out different ideas in the FA 97 size cylinder. The only dimensions that I can't Seem to find anywhere are that of the cylinder ratchet and the base pin boss. I would be greatfull if anyone here could help me with these measurments.
By the way the current chambering i am playing with is essentially a 401 Powermag,400 Colt Magnum idea. I just love the idea of a .400 caliber Magnum revover

I don't have a 97, so I can't help you. However, I really think you should start another thread in the gallery and tell us all about the two guns in your avatar! Thanks in advance.

Hi Jonathan,
For the ratchet, I came up with around 0.539" (measured with the top of the star on top and the two bottom points, well, on the bottom). I say "around" because it's hard to balance out the triangle with my boys being boys.
I'm not sure about the base pin boss - are you referring to the raised circle in the front of the cylinder? I think that's the cylinder bushing. Anyway, whatever it is, mine measures 0.367". If that's not what you're looking for, let me know and I can refondle.

Cucuy thanks for those measurements. If I could impose on you to measure the height of the ratchet and cylinder bushing that would be everything I need.
When I get the cylinder roughed out in Auto CAD I will try to post it here if anyone is interested.
Thanks again Cucuy.

I'd be interested in those CAD drawings. Do you ever play around with oversized cylinders? I wonder if you could make the window any bigger on the 97.

401 power mag caught my eye... sorry, couldn't help with measurements... but I do have a S&W 610, that I had the chambers reamed to fit 10 mm magnum ( I have an Automag 4 in 10 Mag ) & love the cartridge, so I rechambered a Contender barrel, as well as my 610 ( 10mm magnum is really, really close to the 401 power mag ) 610 in the foreground ( looks pretty normal on the outside, except for the fiber optic sights ) the cartridges...

Ratchet height = 0.076"
Bushing height = 0.042"
Have fun!
