Follow-up question about that site. Once you become a member, can you change the color scheme? I find the dark font on dark background hard to read a lot of times(depending on how bright the room is I'm sitting in). Right now, there's no direct sunlight in this room and I can't read the thread titles without hovering over them so the font changes from black to tan!

I added the pic as well as the attachment from my phone. I'll have to wait till tonight to do the sizing to post it here. In the meantime, you can see it on the forum there now.

I'm am a fan of the SRHs and have pretty much forsaken the RHs for them. Whitworth started me down that slippery slope with his which I think was a Huntington custom (I think it might live at Lee's house now). While not as well heeled as Mr. Whitworth, I do own a hacksaw and managed my own SRH, "Whitworth Edition". Tek, I think you missed the most obvious solution when making the decision about short versus long barrels - BOTH! I did work with a local 'smith to remove and shorten the barrel but he had some difficulty removing the barrel and I suggested he give up before damage occurred. The first was a .480 Ruger, then a .454, then a .44 Mag. The .480 is my favorite and it's the one most likely to be with me at any given time. I really like the size and heft of these. I don't think much if anything is stronger. This is the .480 very shortly after the surgery. I really need to take some more pictures. What was the SRH version named after the Alaskan river? Is it still in production (was it ever)?

That's just what I'd like to do to a 480 SRH.
