The 26 Nosler was announced last fall but I've yet to see brass or dies: Pretty much a 375 Ruger necked to 264. It'll fit standard length actions so I may build one (not that I need another 6.5 Mag). They're quoting 129's @ 3,400 fps from a 24" barrel. That sounds a bit optimistic but we'll see.....the only given is I bet barrels start to lay down between 700 and 1,000 rounds. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I received a prototype case from Nosler at the SHOT Show and it was head stamped 7mm RUM. According to Nosler it holds 93 grains of water which is pretty close to the 7mm STW. I'm sure it will be necked up to several different calibers and I'd be surprised if someone doesn't neck it down to 25. I'm going to have one built in 7mm as I believe the case has a several advantages over the STW case and should be impressive with the Berger 168's and 180's.

If it is based on the RUM case the dimensions will be similar to the Dakota's line up of proprietary short cartridges. I can't remember the details now but wasn't there a legal dispute years ago between Dakota and some other company over design infringement ?

WELL SHUCKS, my 264WINMAG will hit 3400 with 120gr bullets. Now don't go bringing reason and logic into the production of a new rifle cartridge, that ship sailed years ago...

Nosler claims the case capacity of the 26 Nosler is 93 grains of water which is pretty similar to the STW. The case is shorter which gives a bit more room to seat bullets out.

I just finished reading the new "26NOSLER" article in the new Shooting Times magazine, twice. I was impressed by the entire thought process they used to develope this new cartridge. NOW, please note that this article was written pre-introduction of the cartridge and the data for it might be a little haphazard once everything shakes out into finality.

I just read the article the other day also. Neat round but do we really need another shoot game at a 1/4 mile or more cartridge? As pointed out by others there are cartridges that will do the se thing. I guess there is a need of a fresh round to make a sales boost for the industry.
Just my opinion so I don't need hate responses but this just promotes unethical shots and shooting instead of hunting. But for steel or paper it is good.

Yawn...
It's catchy... "26 Nosler"... Beyond that it is just another over marketed, over hyped, "new" round. It's not designed to shoot straighter or kill better....it's designed to sell a product.
I love innovation but I don't know this one does that...I've been wrong before

Midway lists it. As I recall it will be expensive to shoot just in the cost of brass alone.
