Good to know Dave. I have XS sights on my Glock 19 and really like them.

Picked mine up today. Stopped by my old neighbors house to show it off. We each put one whole round through it. I didn't have anything loaded up for it yet so I bought a box of Magtech 240 softpoints. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of recoil. I dislocated my right thumb a couple of weeks ago and it didn't bother it one bit.

One thing I did notice. Those two rounds sure left a lot of copper fouling.

Sometimes good things happen unexpectedly. I had mentioned I put a 69 on layaway and would be able to pick it up in a few weeks. My wife and I have an agreement. All the money I earn in overtime is mine to do with what I please. I get paid bi-weekly and this past Thursday was payday but what I failed to think about was we had three paydays this month. So imagine my surprise when I checked my deposit and it was double what it normally is. Therefore the 69 got bailed out yesterday. Yeee Haww!! I have also been working hard at losing weight. I have lost 40 pounds in the last two months so my wife gave me the debit card to order a new Simply Rugged Sourdough as a little pat on the back for my successful weight loss. I have an awesome wife!! Gonna order a set of the Smith 500 grips for it too. After handling the 69 a bit I can see why Paul recommends them. I'd post pictures but most of us know what the 69 looks like. I'll wait until I get some perforated targets to post along with it. Might even try and shoot me a pig with it this year.

Damn! Forty pounds in two months... What did you eat? Anything? Ha! Yes I eat I just changed everything I eat. No red meat, lots of fruits and vegetables, lots of water, no more sugar of any kind no white stuff or artificial sweeteners. No diet soda or beer. Three months ago my blood work threw up a bunch of red flags so I threw up the white flag to healthy eating. It was rough for a while but I'm used to it now and can't imagine going back. I still have another 50 or so pounds to go but I have every confidence I'll make it. I weighed in at 276 pounds 2 months ago. If I was 6'6-6'8 that wouldn't be so bad but at 5'9 it's very bad. Edited to add: my doctor had another male patient that lost 40 pounds in one month! Doc said he really didn't eat anything. That's just as unhealthy as over eating.

Cutting out the beer definitely helps. But no red meat! I don't think I could do either. I once had to quit drinking for 9 months while I was being treated for Tuberculosis. The gift of spending time in a third world country. There was many a day of working manual labor in the sun and all I craved was an ice cold beer.

So I apologize to Paul for the hijacking that's about to take place. My blood work showed very high levels of uric acid. I have a few friends that have gout and have seen them suffer tremendously. I do not want that for myself so all the food stuff that puts me at risk are gone which among others is red meat and beer. Unfortunately wild game meat is on that list too. That will be the real test for me. I love well prepared venison and pig meat. The weight loss is just a pleasant side effect of a healthier diet.

Congrats on the weight loss ! Now you don't have to ask,"Honey, does this holster make me look fat ?" ! You'll be two-gun Paul pretty soon.

Just a quick update on the Hogue grips I talked about earlier, I really like these things! Hogue part number 19012. They are not much to look at, but they feel near perfect in my hand. And I proved to myself a long time ago that I shoot better with Goodyears than with wood grips. No surprise I like these, this is how my 629 Mountain Gun grips ended up, I really like these too.

Does any one elses copper foul like crazy? Definitely going to firelap this. All in all I like the size and accuracy and trigger.

Put fifteen firelap loads down the barrel and it made a drastic difference in how it fouled. 2 rounds would completely cover all lands in very visible copper, but not really much in the grooves. Fired 5 rounds and there was far, far less fouling than before. Will do fifteen more. I was really surprised in how much of a difference those fifteen firelap loads made.

Glad the fire lapping worked for you. I haven't fired enough jacketed rounds to notice a problem as lead is my main source of bullets. I have had some heavy leading with hot loads and in the future may run some fire lap rounds down it. What grit did you use, 15 rounds isn't a lot for a stainless barrel.

It was Beartooths compound. I was exceedingly happy with what those fifteen rounds accomplished. I have firelapped several guns including a stainless redhawk. The redhawk had some restriction and took over 150 rounds before I saw any improvement. I was just hoping to ease up on the fouling with this gun. The night and day difference was astounding.
