Chief and encore congratulations on the Model 69s! I have found mine to be very accurate and the extra bonus of ease of carry. For me an L Frame 44 Magnum just rocks! My favorite 44!
Chief I like the Ahrends, are they Bacote wood?

I have to admit this purchase, as well as the Charter Arms Bulldog Target 44 Special, is the result of the Matt's Wadcutter Bullets.
They have increased my interest in the 44 Caliber.

Bocote is correct, I think they look pretty good on it.

At about 2,500 rounds thru #1 (mostly 265gr at 1,140 fps), the gun started binding in both single and double action. Sent it back to S&W on their dime. They “fixed the yoke and replaced the rear sight" to correct elevation probs w/mag ammo. Turnaround time from doorstep to doorstep was 3 weeks exactly. Gun #2 has a little over 5,000 rnds down the pipe -- had it out yesterday day -- still love these guns. For those that are interested here's a picture of various loads/POIs. Shot from a rest at 25 yards with the ORIGINAL REAR SIGHT bottomed out (new rear blades are lower). Only shot two with each load to minimize target clutter and eliminate recoil induced fatigue. Paul

All I can say about my 69 is that I dearly love this gun!! I have yet to find a load that it won't shoot well and I've tried a bunch from mild to stupid with zero issues. I've only used three bullets so far, the 180XTP, a 240 lead from Missouri Bullet and a 250 Keith from Magnus. I was concerned that the hot loads would be an issue but I have not found that to be the case, they buck pretty good to be sure but not unshootable. I packed H110 behind the 250 Keiths just to hurt myself and I thought there was less recoil than out of my Freedom Arms 83. Mine is a keeper and it convinced me to buy a Model 66 to have the K frame version (it'll be here next week).

Love the gun but that 4.25" does pose some holster issues. I'll be having one made specifically for it but off the rack choices don't exist unless you go long.

Am up early, have developed arthritus in feet and it woke me up. Am going to put another layer of finger prints on that M69 later this am.. Am taking the M629 4" with me to compare, will be wearing my Bulldog too. A short tube 44 DA party sorta. Gonna try hard to make up my mind today.

Send me that 629 so you wont be stressing out about making a choice, chances are you will end up with both when you can't decide.

Well, the M629 is not mine, yet, or maybe, or..just here for a trial run. The M329 is off the list. Making progress, sorta.
