Have your mother in law come for a visit. Then have her go to the range with you. If that don't get the stress level up, you numb.

Uhhhhhhhh.... not a good idea. She stayed with us for awhile during hurricane Ike. She spent most of her time telling me what I should be doing or how I should be doing something or telling me what I could be doing different/better/first. After 4 or 5 days I said something along the lines of (as nicely as I could)... "MeMe... you can tell me to do anything you want when we are at your house and you know I will do anything for you that you ever ask, and many things that you never have to ask... but please can I do things my own way at my own house?". She asked to be taken home that night even though she had no power, transportation or medication at home. Gotta love 'em!

I used to do a bunch of push ups before shooting..I figured it would get the heart rate up and have me breathing heavy...

I am also an alumni of Suarez Internationals close range gunfighting and force on force training. Cutting edge stuff. Expect bruises and some blood loss. steve b

To simulate the horror and dismay of someone trying to take your life is harder, maybe pretend your wife just told you she's pregnant? Or worse yet, your mistress! As for stress training, I was a personal defense instructor and to get my client's breathing and heart rate up, I had them run a few wind sprints, then stop and shoot. Also, they were drawing from concealment, and against a clock (draw and shoot 3 shots in 2 sec). People who were normally very accurate shooters, at least at first, did good to hit target at all. You overcome it, but it requires lots of practice...

So, you've artificially raised your heart rate, then drew and fired against a clock. Well, ya gotta start somewhere I guess. Step away from the square range, theres a big ole world out there ! steve b
