HA! The first poll!
Unlike the silliness seen elsewhere (e.g., the firing lines caliber battles), this poll has a purpose. We are desperately trying to record the history on the past site. Shakey, Mark Terry, mt, onegoodshot, and I have been doing this alone so far. We have 20 or so pages copied and have about 100 more to go. Please help out! Read the posts on "Perhaps not all is lost" for instructions.
Later.

Only reason I have not is because I have dial-up.
I live in such a rural area---no cable----no DSL----therefore no hi-speed.
Downloads and uploads take years.......LOL.

I could break an anvil with a rubber hammer so I'm out. I would just screw up yer plans, this computer thing and my brain don't get along.

C.R. - email sent, but it got bounced back to me. Here's the message that I sent you: Yep, that looks good. One word document per old page seems to work just fine. You'll have SA pages 28 and 29, so you'll end up with 2 word documents. We're keeping track on the "Perhaps not all is lost" thread, so check in there. Thanks!
TEXASFIVEGUN - Very funny! Good enough reason for me!
Doc - High speed is an absolute must for this project. With my "high-speed" connection and my wife's crappy computer (i.e., frequent crashes), it can take a mind numbing 30+ minutes to copy a page.
Thanks for your consideration!

My pos home computer isn't EVEN up to that task...my computer at work would do it nicely I'm sure, but my boss would shoot me. I'm just waiting for him to tell me one day that hanging out on gun forums is not part of my job description. LOL! So yep, I value my paltry paychecks too much & have no desire to go looking for another job.

Cucuy, Do you want us to just zip the word docs up and email them to you?
here are a few tricks that speed up the process. Once you've opened the thread in the old forum....and you want to copy everything on that page.......just hold down the control button (Ctrl) and press A.........this selects everything on that page
Then press and hold Ctrl button and press the C button. this copies everything that has been selected.
Then simply click over to your word doc and press Ctrl V, this pastes everything there.
If you don't feel comfortable using the "hot keys". all of these things can be found on the too bar.
for SELECT ALL---go to EDIT and when the box drops down, click SELECT ALL. for COPY ------ go to EDIT and when the box drops down, click COPY
NOW YOU will be pasting into word, so for PASTE ------ you might be able to just use the PASTE icon in word........however if that doesn't work........use the hot key of CTRL and V
now if you happen to be viewing a multiple page thread, you'll of course have to go to the second/third page and perform the same steps.
then just go back to the main forum, select the next thread and do it again.
Just be sure to save that word doc frequently. As we are copying and pasting a lot of pics and those boogers can lock up Word. By saving, if Word crashes, you won't have to start all over again.
This saves a bunch of time.

c.r. , can you explain "zip" the word document? I've got pages in Word File's but have been unable to send them as attachments, possibly my internut provider ain't providin'. My back-up plan is to save the Word Documents to a flash drive and mail to cucuy via postal orifice. I don't computer well.
I can also be reached at rocknut AT swtexas.net

OK! I'll volunteer (Being from Tennessee, could I do less?). Someone will have to tell me how to access the old board since I deleted the link from my bookmarks. Also, I am somewhat confused by the posts thus far on what exactly is being done. Reply by message might keep from confusing this thread. John W.TN

my attempt to explain "zip the word document".
I'm referring to what use to be called Winzip. basically it somehow compresses the file to make it smaller so that it can be sent through email easier. It was much more popular years ago when disk space was more of an issue.
Whatever the software's actual name is..........today most computer have it already installed.
Once you create your file.........lets say you save a file on your desk top. move your cursor/mouse ove the icon for that file. go ahead and RIGHT click on the icon. A drop down box of sorts will appear..........move the cursor to "SEND TO" another drop down box will appear........select "Compress (zipped) Folder"
I could swear previous editions of Microsoft simply had a "zip" choice when you right clicked....either way, look for somehting lebeled zip or compressed.
This will compress the file..........AND create a new icon. the icon will appear as a "folder" with a zipper on it. This is the smaller file that you can send.
Some companies have restrictions on the size of files that can be sent and/or received. Occasionally this will allow you around that. Some how it "compresses" the file and phyiscally makes it smaller.
I'll also email this to you, MT hope that helps c.r.

I'd been working on this today. What is the status now that there is a possibility of malware?
