Not so much smithin' as it is just making it work. I've had this .308 for years and never shot it because I don't like shooting anything with high rings. I'd intended to get this thing machined and said what the heck. I had a set of TPS medium rings laying around. Insert a die grinder, the most unforgiving tool I can think of if you slip or go deep. It didn't get away too much. Then file, then sand, then degrease and paint. Mr. Bradshaw is right about filing, it ain't second nature. I'm happy.
