I'll be looking for a 69. The selection of that number is a bit goofy, though. Remember that the original Mdl.69 S&W was a semi-auto. I guess they ran out of numbers some time ago, like today's 67 bears little resemblance to the original wonderful 67.

Only 700 of the 69s
Why would S&W do that?

Probably because they can sell 10 642/442s or 20 Shields for every M69 they'll sell.

The 629 is ugly. I do like the looks of the 69. I just hope their QC is better than on the last 3 new S&Ws I purchased.

The 69 is very interesting. You have to wonder, in these times of long back orders, how do they have time for a product as new as the 69? Mark

Looks like they also lost the lock at the end of the ejector in favor of a ball detent lock like the 500.

With a wholesale of $642, the street price on it should be around $740 which will definitely make it a bargain if it can hold up to the same level loads as a 6 shot Ruger Blackhawk.

Good price on what should be a great revolver. I would buy one as soon as they are in good supply. I seriously doubt S&W would limit it to 700 pieces. Even if they did I bet if they sold out the first run they would make a second. Glad some of you guys don't like the new guns with the locks, makes it easier for others to find one:)

I was just wondering how many of you guys have already thought about converting on of these to 45colt. i definitly have thought about it already. if can get my lil hands on 2 of them might put a spare m625 mountain gun barrel to good use after trimming and rethreading the shank to fit the Lframe
