Been casually browsing for a new production Colt NF and am finding it a bit disconcerting combing through all the listings. Let's be honest... While a '78 NF may be NIB it's more 'NOS' (new old stock) than factory fresh. Luckily the Blue box, Eliason sight, and vivid CCH are a dead giveaway, but out of three pages of results only two were fresh from factory.
I can see how someone could easily get duped into buying something they didn't do their homework on. Maybe I'm overreacting as everyone seems to have impeccable feedback - which would suggest buyers didn't complain and did their hw - but it sure wouldn't hurt GB and the other classified sites to tighten their listing criteria a bit more.
All I'm saying is (for me anyway) NIB is factory fresh and NOS is what a lot of these NIB guns actually are. It's a little confusing considering the production run on a lot of these models and the fact a lot of sellers don't give any indication of the serial in photos or the description. You're selling a NIB 3rd generation? Fantastic... Which decade was it built?
