So, This one has a long story and a lot of history. If any of my co-conspirators would like to chime in please do. Almost 3 years ago I ran across a Harton built 38-40 on Gunbroker for sale by a fellow in Albuquerque. I e-mailed the guy and we chatted for a bit and I decided I could live without the gun. Being the fine obsessed custom single action kinda' guy I am I of course asked him if he had anything else he could live without. He said he did in fact have a bunch of gun parts at Alan Hartons he was going to have built with a brass bisley grip frame. Now, I don't know about any of the rest of you fine fellows but I couldn't get "I want it" out fast enough. I had to have that brass grip frame. This is before I ever saw Robb's Linebaugh with the brass grip frame he has now but I had seen some on John's website and I knew I wanted one in the worst of ways. Here are the parts: ![](http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa321/Bushog/Pettetparts_zps1dcda9ca.jpg) Turns out the brass grip frame and grips came off this gun from a fine fellow sixgunner: ![](http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa321/Bushog/Robsbrassframe_zps81bef542.jpg) Well, As you can see in the photo the extra long ejector housing came from another one of us... Many phone calls later I found out I couldn't use my prized grip frame on the bisley receiver so I had to settle on this beautiful .475 Linebaugh. Steve supplied the beautiful California walnut for the grips. Alan sent me these photos this evening. Thanks to everyone who contributed! I can't wait for it to get here. ![](http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa321/Bushog/Harton1_zpse1e2094d.jpg) ![](http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa321/Bushog/Harton2_zps39cc0f47.jpg) ![](http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa321/Bushog/Harton3_zps343ce28a.jpg)

So are you going to let that poor lost brass bisley gripframe come home where it started? :)That gun that it is shown on is still in the safe but now it wears a two piece brass Colt style with elephant ivories. I wondered if that young man ever had the gun completed or not. I sold a whole lot of parts and for some reason I let that 3rd brass bisley go. I guess I figured with two in hand I should share my good fortune. If I remember correctly, the guy I sold the parts to was a church worker in Alaska who moved to NM for a different ministry. Try fitting that gripframe to an old model 357 and I bet it bolts right up. John Gallagher originally fit it for me and made the box elder burl grips.

I'll find something to fit it on, even if I have to get one of the metallurgy magicians at The Lab to weld up the holes and the ears so it can be fit.
Maybe it will fit o my OM .44 flat top?

There is a good chance it would fit your OM flat top. Bolt it up and try it.

The base gun originated from Kansas at Cabelas then to TX to Alan for Madbo ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The sight blanks and front ramp in that first picture, I bought from Bowen and were extras when I had the stainless 475 built in 07. I bought stainless and carbon parts for another build that obviously didn't happen. That was Marchish 07....so 6.5 years later, they are still not part of the project ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Nice sixgun Greg! Ha, just noticed that my name was still on the long 5" ejector rod housing package...that was a pain getting those. Went through three of the stainless ones that were mismachined from Ruger before I gave up and took one off one of my 10.5" stainless guns to send down to TX.....

That's terrible. You should just send it to me so that no one else has to suffer the indignity of seeing this revolver. Hey, can't blame a fella for trying....... ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) That is gorgeous!

Really pretty gun Bushog.
Can someone tell me about the brass bisley frames? Fairly rare, not factory? My father has a Hawkeye with a factory brass grip frame that I keep asking for him to get a letter on to see if it was sold this way or was an after thought. He also has another factory brass super frame that isn't on anything. I have told him that he could be robbed if he didn't mount it on something soon. I like the look of a brass frame but Im not a huge fan of the dragoon style square trigger guard of the super Blackhawk. I guess that I could deal with getting over the trigger guard with time but those bisley frames sure do look nice.

The brass bisley grip frames are not a factory item. John Linebaugh had a mold made to cast them and somehow another gentleman ended up getting a castings worth. He had 5 or 6 of them for sale years ago and I bought 3 and another member bought 2 or 3 if I remember correctly. I let that one go since I already had two mounted up. John Gallagher originally fit that one and made the box elder burl grips and installed it on the little gun you see in Bushogs pictures. I do not know if John is casting these any longer but I do think the only way you can get one from him is to have him install it on a gun he is building for you.

Last time I talked to him he didn't have any and wasn't taking on new orders.

The one that is in the picture was one of 12 that came from a casting. Between Robb and I, I think we ended up with 8 of them. I haven't seen anymore recent ones except the ones John had cast a few years ago.

Wow 1 of 12, I had no clue. I saw where one sold for $500.00+ and now understand why.
