Shotgun slug performance

I know it is a little off topic. But here is a Federal Barnes Expander 20 gauge slug that my dad shot a buck with yesterday. It is picture perfect. Retained 100% of its weight and expanded to a little over 1 inch. The bullet weights 275 gr and is 50 caliber in the 20 gauge. Just this year our area allowed rifles but my dad chose to stick with his Ithaca Deerslayer II. A good choice since shots are well under 100 yards and this deer was at 30 yards.

i shot the same bullet out of my .500 JRH BFR with a nice charge of H-110 into a 16 inch diameter elm log. had to take the mal to it and bust open the chunk of wood. the bullet looked exactly the same as above and was found in the middle of the log. I would call that impressive penetration! barnes makes a great bullet!

Impressive. You can't ask for better bullet performance than that.
