Recently thought about trading off this rifle (still might, if the right custom Ruger comes along ) but decided against it. Hadn't had it out of the safe in years but now that it's out, it's not going back in anytime soon! Marlin 1894 Cowboy in 45 Colt with XS sights and an NECG 1/2" red recoil pad. A sweet handling rifle. The pad takes the sting out of hotter loads but, more importantly, better anchors the butt of the rifle against my shoulder when I'm shooting making it easier to work the lever. The factory Marlin buttplate was a bit slick. So, now that it's out I have to load for it. I've got a box of Cast Performance 300gr WFNGC bullets left over from another 45 Colt project and I'm thinking of seeing how they do in the Marlin. Are there any issues with the WFNGC type bullet when loaded in a lever-action magazine tube? I'd not be loading them hot; likely a mild load using Power Pistol powder. Just for kicks, here's some more pictures of the XS sights. I really like them: fast, but also decently precise:

don't know if they will feed properly. my dad's henry lever gun in .44 mag could not mag feed 340 rimrocks, but had to be single loaded, but did shoot them fine. your marlin may work just fine, hard to tell until you try.

I shoot 300 wfn's pb from an Applegate mould and they work fine. You'll know on the first time you bring them from the tube up the ramp.

They feed in mine (grizzly factory ammo 335gr) but I have read of people that have had issues. You might have to load a few and see.
I love these little carbines. I let my dad shoot mine and he all but stole it from me. It's his new favorite deer rifle.
I will add one thing. Those heavier bullets being pushed fast REALLY changed POI in my rifle.
