But I got some today.
I was shooting some of my 5 guns out at the rifle range a couple weeks ago and this young fella' was there shooting off a bench. I know him in a gun sort of way and we've spent quite a lot of time chatting while our rifles were cooling during some load development. Anyhow this guy has been in the running for state champion in F class a few times and used to shoot almost every weekend at The Whitington Center. He knows his stuff.
He takes one of my .475s and hits the 200 yd gong twice out of 5 offhand cold. This is a 12" gong. I was impressed to day the least.
To make a long story shorter he said he had a John built .500 Linebaugh that he had quite a bit of experience with and that he didn't shoot it or really have interest in it any more and did I want to buy it? He muttered a price that nearly floored me and I said I wanted it but didn't have the gold on hand right away.
Well, he held onto it for me until today. He threw in a few goodies to say the least to go with the gun. I gave him an extra $50 (all the spare I had in my wallet) because I was about ashamed to walk out of this guys house with the gun and goodies paying him only what he asked for.
I really like this gun....Axe should love it. Nice patina and edge wear from being carried. Well used but still really tight. He said he got it 2nd hand and that he had put about 1000 rounds through it. It is as tight as other Linebaugh guns I have even after being shot way more than I've shot the others.
Here ya' go.

Can one of you fellas tell me when and where this gun was built? This numbering doesn't look familiar to me.
