Took a ride down to Ft. Sumner again this year to try and find that Booner antelope and it wasn't meant to be. Shot this fella' ranged at 318yds with a Blaser K-95 chambered in .270 win over a full case of H414 for just shy of 3500fps. Wind was howling and I shot in front of him twice. Was trying not to hut him in the butt. That's where I ended up putting the crosshairs and got him. I chased this very antelope for 3 days last year and couldn't get a shot. We called him "Crazy", would not stay put. He looked just huge while glassing him but he sure shrunk when he hit the ground. need to remember I can't eat the horns

Lots of folks say goat huntin' is easy. It aint! Took me three tries to get one in Montana! Those buggers never seem to simmer down. Thats a good looker though.

You're right nolongcolt... I've shot 'em at 75 yds looking at me but the bigger ones have usually been shot at and they learn quick. Heck, I think this one recognized me from last year. He probably saw that Chevy of mine from at least 3 or 4 miles off. If it hadn't been for the 14 does he was with he'd have been in the next county. I'm going to talk Zeuss into coming down here next year so he can use my other guns. I'm going to load the cartridges too.

Nice. What weight bullet are you driving to 3500 fps?

110gn Barnes TTSX.
Shoots like a stretched string and hits really hard. Wind pushes it around a bit but it's usually manageable.

Good job on the pronghorn! That will make a good-looking mount.
Lived down in Hobbs for 3 years and never did get to the Clovis or Ft. Sumner areas. We were always busy exploring further south and west (Florida Mtns, Sacramento Mtns, etc). I sure miss that country!
