Kylar and I have been working on deer hunting skills since July. He's learned lots of suff since then. Saturday was the beginning of Missouri's Early Youth Hunt. We were out the door early (not before the "butt crack of dawn"' but early out for a young hunter). I'd planned more than usual for this hunt. I had a hunch Kylar would require a few 'distractions' to make the time spent afield more fun. So, I planned to keep him warm, well fed & distracted with a fully charged iPad. This proved to be a winning combination. On the way in.... Binoculars can be fun... Low sun makes for interesting photos.... A fully charged iPad can help the time fly by for a youngster who likes his Angry Birds...YES...the unit was muted and on "Airplane Mode"....and still Kylar managed to kick the sound on... Oh well, maybe after lunch.... A full tummy and back to the woods... Learning to scan the woods with your eyes.... A couple of buddies out hunting... Not a totally serious adventure.... Never got to shoot the Savage....saw seven or eight during the two day hunt.... Sometimes it gets pretty slow in the woods... A Snoozer can make the time pass....yes we will stay until dark.... Lucky for us....fun things like glo-sticks can be used to find our way home... No deer in the freezer, but when opening the regular gun season opens in a few weeks...we've vowed to go back into the woods. On the way out, Kylar leaned over, gave me a hug and said, "Grand-Bob, thanks for taking me hunting" He's got a guide for life....or for as long as he wants my company. Bob

"Grand-Bob, thanks for taking me hunting"
Bob, no guide anywhere was ever paid more than that.
