I got a 10lb canister of WW452AA from my dad a couple weeks ago, it was still sealed and has been in his house since he bought it. I cracked the seal and tried some .45Colt loads today with a 454424 copy and 7.2gr and was getting 820fps, was going to bump up the charge to between 7.5-8gr ? and see how it goes. Couldn't find much on this powder and was wondering if any of you guys have some experience with it and could maybe offer some advice and/or cautions. Thanks

Kooz, 452AA is discontinued. The replacement is WST. It is a very good powder in 45acp bullseye pistol loads. Reduced felt recoil than bullseye powder. I looked in winchester load data and four other places, and could only find 231 listed for the 45 long colt. I believe the 452,and WST is a little to fast for the colt. John Roberts

I will give it a try in the .45acp, should be a winner for that based on the soft recoil I experienced today. It looks to be very similar to Bullseye as far as the load data I am seeing for it. I found a couple loads for .45 Colt in one of the "Taffin Tests " articles both 7gr and 7.5gr for a 250gr bullet. The load of 7.2 that I shot today was very accurate and was very soft kicking, I was pretty shocked when the chrono showed 820fps as it felt like 600fps. I would like to make the most use of this powder as possible with powder being a bit hard to come by latley.

I'D GIVE MY RIGHT ONE for that keg of 452AA. It is the best cast bullet propellent in pistol cartridges I ever tested. That would be from 32S&WLONG to 45COLT. It was superb in my 44SPL 250GR 429421 handloads.

I have used a very large amount of WST in my competiton 45 ACP revolvers & my 40 caliber 610 revolvers, if 452 is the same you've found a winner. 10 lbs will last you a very long time. In my 40 caliber competion loads I used 3.7 grs of WST with a 205 gr cast slug, it would make major powder factor anywhere in the country & won a lot of matches.

Terry,
Would you mind sharing your load data for the 44 Special and 452AA? I've got a fair amount of that powder still (It's my favorite cast bullet powder in the 45 ACP) and I've been wanting to try it in the 44 Special in my Ruger Blackhawk, but it would be nice to have some data from someone who has used it in this application before....
If you'd be willing to share, I'd much appreciate it !!!!!
