I have a few older dies I have aquired over the years. Some scratch the brass some when resizing? What is the best way to polish them without removing metal affecting the resizing the brass? I was thinking J-B polishing compound? I use that with krill to polish all my shotgun barrels with OOOO steel wool. Thanks.

Flitz on a bore mop works pretty good.

Take a cleaning jag with a hole like like a sewing needle and stick a piece of masking tape on it and start rolling, Then roll some filler paper folded the the right width, about an inch wide. Then when you get thicker than the diameter of the die, tape some fine wet or dry to the paper and keep rolling. The wet or dry can start at 400 and go to 2000 grit. Put some oil or WD40 on the wet or dry and chuck the jag in your cordless drill. Put the jag on a short piece of threaded cleaning rod to get as deep in the die as you need. Polish away as needed up to 2000 grit. You don't have to be real careful since the steel is hard and stock removal will be slow, but don't go too nuts.

My Dillon 45 Colt dies are scratching my brass. Dillon told me to use 600 grit to remove buildup and clean with solvent.

I hit them with a little 880 grit and then flitzed them. Look fine now. I use Flitz for my final polish on a turkey gun barrel and has always worked good.
