I went to the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus Ohio this weekend to watch the barrels and poles. They were also doing the Cowboy Mounted Shooting on Sunday. What a hoot! I ended up staying there and watching it instead of the barrels and poles. What a great organization. It was a blast to watch the horsemanship and shooting abilities of these competitors. What a friendly and genuine group of people. I cant say enough good things about my experience. What a well run and organized event. Kudos to all involved!

Mounted CAS is fun to watch. And,, I noticed a lot more ladies participate. It is fun to watch the gals run it hard.

we saw our 1st one, at one of the local fairs about 3 years ago... then 2 years ago, the local saddle club hosted the regionals... as a newbie holster maker & CAS shooter, I went to check things out... been to the local fair event every year since... funny thing, my 2nd year, I wore my cowboy clothes & I had nicer guns than most at the local deal ( regionals was a way different story ) if I could ride, I'd play that game... but I'm sure I could score better off the back of an old mule, than one of those barrel race speedsters... have you ever seen the chuck wagon competitions, or the lever gun horse back both are real interesting to watch... the local fair's arena is too small, & I have to admit it was a bit un-nerving to have mounted shooters pointing the guns at you from 25 ft away, & pulling the triggers ... it drove me crazy the 1st year
