Been reading a lot of reviews on the PS6-SA and I am going to go with that. Thanks for all the advice.

The Sparks is a superior holster. I had him make it with open trigger guard, a personal preference. ha! back in the 70's i asked uncle milt to make me a couple of custom holsters with a covered triggerguard (after having a Blackhawk get whipped out of a sparks holster by a juniper limb that snagged the triggerguard while riding horseback). i sent milt some drawings and he made 'em up for me. to my surprise, the next year a majority of his holsters had that feature. so blame me for that design you don't like ;-)

I got one of the early SS Sheriff's Model .44 Specials, which had a Montado/SB hammer, then used up my last stainless bird's head gripframe and a little gunsmithing work to make a pretty nice packing pistol. Although as noted here, I don't exactly have a shortage of such guns! LOL! I've been carrying it in a really slick 2-tone custom from Rob's, with spare rounds (Winchester Silver-Tips) in a Tuff Strip. When it needs to be 100% concealed, I go to the Mernickle hi-ride. BTW (and Lee, please feel free to delete this post if it's too too commercial!), I will be filming the "live audience" openings and closings for 2014 SHOOTING GALLERY in Phoenix this year. We've been doing them in a studio, but we're going to try something different for this season — filming on the range, specifically Ben Avery. The date is TUESDAY, 5 NOVEMBER...time will probably be 9AM for the first session, 1PM for the second. There'll be some free stuff for attendees and — here's the big plus! — you can throw stuff at me. I think I'm going to "wear" the little .44 Special in Rob's leather for the filming. C'mon...don't leave me standing in the middle of a range at Ben Avery all by myself! You can just mosey in, but I'd appreciate your signing up over at DONW RANGE TV so I have some idea how many vegetables I have to dodge... www.downrange.tv/blog/register-for-the-shooting-gallery-season-14-studio-audience-qa-segments/26095/Michael B

Been reading a lot of reviews on the PS6-SA and I am going to go with that. Thanks for all the advice. Good choice. It was on my short list at one time. Don't forget a good belt! The belt can make a huge difference in comfort. It took me a couple of decades for that to sink in.

My new Mernickle PS6-SA holster arrived last night! What a handsome holster! Fit is perfect, ride height is great for concealing a short barreled SA revolver, and the gun is tucked in tight to the body. Never tried cross-draw carry until last night.....WOW! This holster is designed to be worn strong side hip or cross-draw. Perfect for driving... Heck with my Glock 26, my concealed pistol today will be my Sheriff 45! Going out for a range visit later, and hope to get some pics of me wearing it, so all interested can see exactly how it rides and looks.

So, the holster question & problem has been solved. We'll await your range report. I'm also curious about how things went at Ben Avery's with MB. No report on that day yet?

Actually was fun...those days are always scary dog and pony shows! Would have liked larger crowds, but hey, things are what they are. Everybody got books, videos, hats, stuff, etc., and we gave away lots of new Streamlight product and a take-down Ruger 10/22. I wore my .44 Sheriff's birdshead model in a Simply Rugged holster.

Just returned from the range. I went to a State Forest to shoot today, and so was shooting at some self-healing portable targets (those things are great!). So, no groupings or accuracy reports here, but more wanted to share my appreciation for the Mernickle holster! I swear that I am going to ditch my plastic 9mm pistol and start packing this heavy metal Ruger! The Mernickle was SUPER nice when worn cross draw, and makes driving comfortable and no pain at all. I also wore the holster strong-side hip, and again, tucks in tight and rides nice and high.
