I NEED some NEW .284 Win brass, 100 pcs would do me nicely for an upcoming hunt to RSA next summer, to use in my dads old Model 70. I have looked everywhere that I can think of. Believe me. So if any of youse guys knows of some or would be willing to part with some please let me know. I know that 6.5-284 brass can be necked up but when traveling it becomes a problem as headstamp must match rifle stamp. Yes, I know there is some on GB right now but I am hoping to not have to pay a buck per pc as in that auction. I check it every day. Also checked with Winchester and while the word was they would have a run this past Sept, it didnt happen and they dont anticipate having a run in time for my trip next summer. Still looking.
Thanks!!

Let me check through my components. I used to load for it years ago, but don't know if I kept any brass.

I remember several years back at a gun show in Louisville, KY. I was nearly out and needed some Fed 215 Mag primers, found several cartons of 1K but they wanted 30 bucks per carton. No way I said. The next day after looking all over, I went back and bought two M. A couple months later I found some at $28 per M... What a joke huh. Have 3K on hand at all times now. Shoot a lot of 300 Win Mag with H-1000 powder, my standard coyote varmint load.

Nothing wrong with it unless I can get it for less. Normal rate for brass is about $35 per 50. I will pay more if push comes to shove but I have until next summer so I can afford to look around for a while. I am in contact with another member who seems willing to sell me some, still waiting for confirmation.
Like paying the ridiculous prices for powder right now. I was looking for Varget for quite a while, no luck. Finally on GB recently a local seller had two pounds for $80, no tax, no shipping, no problem. Waiting sometimes pays off.

Yes it is, but Varget has been unobtainable around here for some time. A couple LGS's told me July. Well that came and went with no Varget or much of anything else. Did get some 760 which coincidentally is also the .284's favorite powder. The load I worked up for it is the 140 Barnes TSX with 55.5 grs of 760 for just over 3000fps and 2800 ME. Shoots under an inch.

I wasn't trying to be a pain. I was just impressed at the price. Sometimes a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.
