There is nothing wrong with sneaking out of church to buy a gun.

BKH-44B Blackhawk, 45, 4 5/8 inch, W/brass grip frame. RENE says 405 produced. RENE talks about the wide grooved trigger under Super Blackhawk. Of course I'd think that a gun assembled with a grooved trigger would be in keeping with general Ruger stuff. I'd think that if your gun's serial number falls in the same time period that the grooved triggers were put in the SBH MR3D it would be only logical that a 45 with a MR3-DB would have a grooved trigger too. A real Ruger man will chime in and tell us for sure..

What a great find!!!!!! According to my stuff, it will letter as a Brassie! GET THE LETTER!!!!! As for the trigger,, standard Super Blackhawk trigger, and came that way,,,! The Brassies used the Super Blackhawk design, and as such, they wider grooved trigger.
If you decide to sell, I'd like first chance!!!!!!

Brassies should have the wide serrated trigger, the regular trigger doesn't fill the grip frame slot. Letter or not, beauty.
Give a shout if you ever bore of it--I love the OM 45's, especially with a little bling.

I went and checked my serial numbers--the three factory lettered brassie 45's I have are all higher serials. The 7.5" is around 19,7xx and both of the 4 5/8" ones are low 20,xxx. Just FYI--and I have no idea what serial ranges the guns are scattered through.

Bill Ruger, Jr., looked over my brass grip frame Super, the one I shot in the first IHMSA Internationals, Los Angeles 1977. "It looks like we made it with the brass grip frame," said Ruger, "but I can't verify it."
Ruger stopped producing the brass grip frames because of complaints of casting voids from purists. Two barrels of brass frames were on hand, I was told, at the time Ruger stopped shipping grip frames and guns so fitted. Sold for scrap. I enjoy the feel and heft of the brass grip frame, and the full-on Dragoon look. David Bradshaw

Great gun!! My two main areas of focus in Ruger collecting are the Old Model 45s and the factory brass gripframes. These OM45s brassies hit both!!
I have a few of these in my collection and wouldn't part with them for less than $2K, so you made a great find! It's always nice to see, every once in a while, that they are still out there popping at gunshows.
Congrats!

Gorgeous gun! You done good!
About 20 years ago, I found a brass-framed OM 45 Colt with 4-5/8" bbl at a local Atlanta show. I thought the guy was out of his mind for asking $450 for it, so I didn't buy it. Of course, I never found another even close to that price. I finally located an OM 4-5/8" 45 Colt with XR-3 Red aluminum frame about 3 years ago and snatched it up. Nothing special, been "rode hard and put up wet", as the saying goes. But this gun is a shooter! The chamber throats measure .4525" and it just seems to group well with most any load. My version of the "Perfect Packin' Pistol". I carry it in the woods all the time.

You should thank the person who purchased the Marlin, I see those at every gun show. A Ruger 45 with a factory brass grip frame is a rare bird. Congratulations on your good luck.
