Do I understand right that if I simply remove that spring loaded clicker from the frame of a NM Flattop the cylinder will freewheel? It is threaded into the back of the cylinder frame right?

I bought one of the new .357 flattops when they first came out. First thing after purchase, I took the flattop to Bob Munden (may he rest in peace) to perform his magic. We decided to remove the Plunger (instant free spin pawl). When I got the gun home, the free spin pawl was not always “free spin”. Took it back to Bob and spent an hour or more trying to figure out “why” – Bob went so far as to modify a Power pawl that also wouldn’t consistently “free spin”. Finally just put the OEM pawl and plunger back in the gun – drove Bob absolute nuts. Never could get that gun to shoot like I thought it should and eventually sold it.
FWIW,
Paul

i tried it with my 357 anny, and it isnt totally free spin. with the 44 specials, removing the plunger did it.
