Sorry, but the part of Govt. that is causing all the problems is not shut down. Our elected officials and their staff are immune and still up and running as poorly as ever.
It is the agencies serving you and me that are shut down.
As a retired govt. employee, it hurts when people lump rank and file workers in with the politicians as being to blame for our problems.

Well, I still report for duty each day. I just don't get paid unit they can work it out. I didn't take this job for the money. Don't get me wrong, I have a family and bills -- I will put up with the short term pain for a better solution in the long run. Most guys I work with feel the same way.

Mary has a pair of Uberti Cattleman 357s setting in South Dakota waiting to be shipped to a dealer here. She does not have concealed carry so I expect her to have to go through an instant background check.

Background checks un-affected.
NFA branch on a skeleton crew though, so those form 4 toys are going to take even longer than they would have.

I guess the upside of living in Australia is, nothing. The downside is I am still awaiting my firearms possession and acquisition license...

I picked up seven the other day (three handguns, four long guns). No problems in TN.

No problem buying guns at dealers in our area....other than the usual lack of funds!

how ironic though that during this week's shooting at the capitol, the capitol police that were probably not getting paid, had to protect the politicians, who to my knowledge, were still drawing a paycheck, and are at the heart of our governmental dysfunction.

Went hunting today and found the forest service toilet locked up. It's the kind that don't need serviced, just can't be used if the government isn't running. I would have thought they needed more crap back there. The bushes still worked just fine!

Callshot, glad to hear that you are all mended and out on the hunt again Sir. As a retired govt. employee, it hurts when people lump rank and file workers in with the politicians as being to blame for our problems. A good point. I have friends that work law enforcement in Grand Canyon national park. They are presently furloughed but are on the job anyway so as not to abandon their fellow officers in the field. Today the job at hand is to turn people away from accessing the Colorado River via a road block on the road to Lees Ferry. They are taking a regular tongue lashing and are being blamed for the non-access. It's not right to blame them.

Yes, but wouldn't it be cool if a bunch of these officers said "Hell no" to these pencil neck a-holes when they tell them to keep people out of what belongs to the PEOPLE?! Like National Parks. This stuff belongs to US, not them. Taking a tongue lashing goes with the territory. They just have to suck it up.
