Views of two Colt SAA revolvers with color case hardened hammers. The first is a New Frontier model (1981) in .44 Special (One of Skeeter Skelton's favorites). The other is a late production (2008) black powder frame model in .45 Colt with one-piece straight-grained walnut grips by Paul Persinger in El Paso, Texas. These two modifications give this SAA a slight flavor of a old Cavalry model....If it only had a beveled cylinder! Colt does put a beveled edge on each side of these late model SAA hammers so the color case hardened finish on the hammer sides will not have any scratches. J.D. Beautiful sixguns! They look so much better with case colored hammers.

I hope you don't mind me drooling over your Colts! I just got these Cattlemam 45s an really like the color case and the case matches really well but it's not nearly as showy as your Colts. Also the case on hammers are pretty uniform dark. I expected the hammers to be polished and was pleasantly surprised to see them color case. Are the checkered walnut (?) grips factory?
