I have some ranch dog .357 bullets that weight around 185 grains. I'm looking for some data to load them up in a .357 mag. Usually use this bullet for 357 max but wanted to try a few in the 357 mag. I've used 12.5 gr 296 for my cast performance 180 load in the past thanks.

I use jacketed bullet data myself, starting low and working my way up as usual. The starting data for 180 gr jacketed should work fine as a starting point for cast loads.

www.ranchdogoutdoors.com has data available. I'm playing with WFN's and XTP's using 2400 and can't specifically help you. stevemb

Ditto to 358156hp. I have been running 170-185 cast in my 357's for some time. I used a jacketed starting load and had excellent results with mid range jacketed loads with the cast. These gave speed over the top of jacketed max loads. Jeff

Hmmm. I used 200 grain round nose bullets in a .357 to shoot bowling pins for a few years. The overall length was too long in .357 cases so I loaded them in .38 Special cases. Seems like the powder of choice was Universal Clays. Killed pins dead!

If you're looking for a mild load, I'm running 6gr of Unique over a standard primer under the Oregon Trail 180gr TC and getting great accuracy at both 50 and 100 yards from my 6" S&W M586. Recoil is negligible and I'm not seeing any unburned kernels of powder.
