Well this project was put on hold when I decided to quit my job and start up my own business, which is doing good so far! Finally took some time off and played in the shop a little. Added Its a 489" 4.25" stroke with 4.28" bore going into my 1940 Willey's I know Lee was building one similar to this one for a corvette Here's a few pictures.

Wow. So sweet! Probably low compression so it won't wheelie over backwards! I had a buddy who had a pumped 427 CJ5 that would wheelie through second gear, it was so fast it was idiotic.

Its a strut/4-link car with wheelie bars so the front only comes up foot or so . And yes its low compression and low RPM (designed to stay under 7,000 RPM). The car only weighs 2000LBS with driver and doesn't need the high maintenance engine it has now, I figure I only need around 620 adj. shaft hp to put this car into the 9s up here. From there I'm going to back it off to 10.00s and keep the MPH under 135 and run non-electronics class. Here's an old picture of the 40 Willey's.

There are lots of great options available for Rat motors nowadays. I used to work for AFR way back when. Edelbrock in particular, has come a along way and has some great offerings.
