We've seen highs and lows in the gun manufacturing industry. My favorite low is Bangor Punta/LSI and what ever that other cmpany was and S&W. They really turned out some crude stuff. IMHO todays S&W mfg output is heads and shoulders above the guns produced during that era. Ruger seems to come and go too... Slang? Mama was an English teacher. I remember having to make an effort to speak poorly just to fit in. Today I may not speak or write perfect but there is no intentional butchering of english here. I don't even use the stuff in text messages.

As noted many guns are now mass produced for certain AVERAGE shooters. Look around,, at your buddies etc at the local clubs. I bet only one or two will have the passion to "tune" a handgun to perform better. Or expect more out of a factory gun. We just held a "meet & greet" at my range for a forum group. Lots of black & tactical. I was the ONLY SA revolver shooter there. Yet, it was fun when a few of the guys who were not used to them shoot the SA's or watch me shoot at 100 yds while they were using rifles. Yet, the black tactical crowd does the same thing,, they tinker with their guns. A lot. Factory built guns will work quite well with jacketed factory fodder, or at least to the average shooter. But, around here we take our handgunning seriously, and as such, we tinker a bit more to get better performance. Tight shooting, seriously accurate, well fitted handgun building takes TIME,, and TIME is $$$$ to a mass manufacturer. And I have seen many "older" guns that needed work as much as the newer ones. The biggest difference I see in some of the older guns vs newer ones is the quality of the external finish. It takes time,, and again,, that costs.
As for the term boolit used instead of bullet,,, I had it explained a bit differently many years ago. Internet word searches use a lot of different methods to cause a lot of interest, OR to reduce the amount of crap we get when searching for something. the term "boolit" greatly narrows an internet search. Type in bullet & see how many hits one gets,,,!

My son will be here this evening with my Castleman 45s. Should I just take them out of the box and shoot them? Or take them apart and clean out any buggers that may be inside?
