Hi guys. Finally joined the forum today after browsing for a while. Great site...love it!
Anyway. I am looking for some reloading data for Greendot powder in my 44SPL Vaquero Sheriff Model. My manuals don't list much for Greendot. I've got a bunch of 240 LSWC bullets that I'm loading with so any info you have on Greendot with 240gr LSWC for 44SPL would be much appreciated.

After going thru 4 manuals, found it in old faithful, for me. The Speer #10 manual. They have green dot starting at 5.2gr and topping out at 5.7grs.. stevemb

Oh, a Paul Harvey, rest of the story moment. That info with a LSWC 240gr speer bullet. Was derived using a CA target Bulldog 4".The 5.2gr got 687 fps., the 5.7gr went 763fps.. stevemb

First off, welcome to the forum. I shoot Green Dot extensively for reduced handgun to include 44 Special. The manuals tend to be a tad light with that combination though (probably due to the Charter Arms Bulldog being weaker). In Ruger 44 Specials I like 6.0 with a 250 grain Keith. It goes right around 880 fps from a 5.5" barrel. Hope this helps. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Thanks guys. I appreciate the timely response. I haven't had much luck yet with getting this Vaquero to hit point of aim. Hits high and to the left. 4.0gr of Titegroup seemed to dial things in the closest but still not POA. Been sticking with the 240gr LSWC since that is what I have but I might try ordering some lighter bullets too. Need to try Greendot since I have a bunch of it.

One more...
How about 44MAG loads with Greendot? Using 240gr LSWC and 200gr NOS JHP.

General rule of thumb with Green Dot. Whatever the Unique load, back down by 1.0. You'll achieve roughly the same velocity and it burns a tad cleaner (I've tested the former many times over the chronograph...everything from 32 H&R up to 45 Colt). -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"
