Got a gathering'o'the'Clan going on for the holiday weekend, at camp. Got an e-mail from member that's hoping for some "viper vittles". Satueed rattler. Yum. There's been a serious uptick in snakes over the last few yrs.. They go in cycles, so BE CAREFUL ! stevemb

Cycles.seems like Dad told of the hills being overrun with rattlers and copperheads in the '30's. Then heard of "investation levels" of snakes in the late 60's, early '70's. Cook's Forest was gated off about then due to our scaly friends. Now..another cycle upturn ? What are you folks in the Appy's seeing ? stevemb

Rattler is DEEE--LLiceous!!!!!!!! In NC though, they are not supposed to be killed. They are on a list of; "Species of special concern." (One step away from endangered.) But I have caught a bunch of copperheads this year. Excessive rains this year have caused a change in how they act & where they go.
