I took a chance and bought the new Marlin youth 336 30-30 16" barrel with laminate wood. Glad I did. The gun fits me good the laminate stock is only 3/4" shorter than my other 336. Took it out and shot it real quick today. With factory Remington and my cast loads. I attached both pics of the groups I shot. Both are at 55 yards with factory buckhorn sights. I wanted to see if it would shoot good before I put an Ashley or Skinner sight on it. Also will slick up the trigger and action. Trigger is a little heavy. This gun actually shoots my cast load better than my other 30-30's. Its a 170 GC bullet I cast lyman 311291 mold with Winchester 748 3 shots Remington 150 grain factory ammo 3 shots Lyman 311291 170 grain RN GC Winchester 748

That looks nice Woody glad your new Marlin is working well. I'm seeing some new ones in shops now that aren't too bad. I have a really light load using the Speer & Hornaday 100gr 3/4 jacket bullets that is a lot of fun to shoot if you are interested. I took it out of an old Lyman cast bullet handbook, it was for a 120gr lead bullet. The reduction in weight made up for the jacket on the bullet. It's mild, accurate, ( I've taken several Grey Squirrels with it) & FUN to shoot. It does require a pretty good sight change though from std weight bullets.

I also load up 115 grain cast bullets I cast for the .32 for a mild load in the 30-30. Shot a few today. They were dead on but I didn't shoot them on paper just steel targets.

I'd like to see your recipe for the 100-grain Plinker load. Gotta pre-angle eject Trapper I cut to 12-inch LOP for my oldest son back in the late 20th century; want to use it for a petite woods-loafin rifle for me now that he's 23. Thanks, Dan
