Does anyone in the Huntsville, AL area have a chambering reamer in 6.5x.257 Roberts for sale or rent? Need to cut one chamber and it it partly done already. Or could you cut it for me? L. O. G.

I have dies, brass and some loaded ammo for 6.5x257 Roberts. I understand that it is virtually identical to the European 6.5x57mm. The barrel came off a 722 Rem. that I bought at a gun show in Ohio about 25 years ago. Why anyone put it on a short action, I don't know. 140 gr. bullets seated normally make a round that is too long for the magazine. In addition the barrel has a 1-10 twist and doesn't shoot them very well. I pulled the barrel and built a .22-250 on the 722. Recently a friend and fellow machinist partially built a deHaas no.1 Vault Lock action, which I ended up with and am finishing. I had this barrel, which I threaded to fit the action, because I'm too cheap and too broke to buy a new one. I plan on using bullets of 120 gr. or less. Mostly I just wanted to see how the action worked out. I've never seen one except in photos in deHaas's book of rifle plans. I also read somewhere that you are a fellow Buckeye. L.O.G.
