Looks like the abused frame I got on AA (thanks for the heads up, NBY) is going to become my full size .41 mag. This is going to be a conglomeration of parts bin pieces. I'll be stealing the 5.5 SS barrel from my bisley .41 & the cylinder from my Maximum.
Right now, I'm thinking: Hard chrome finish. Alloy ERH - Hard chromed will match gun, and reduce some of the weight I'm picking up with a smaller bore vs a .44/.45. SBH grip frame with trigger guard rounded. Bisley spur hammer? or the standard SBH? Undecided. Flattopping the frame.

Why the maximum cylinder? You thinking 1.4 inch 41? ;D Better go ahead and find a Bisley grip frame... You have already been infected with the Bisley bug... Thought about a S&W Ribbed barrel? You could be somebody with a ribbed barrel on that gun.... Man up with a little weight training and go steel EJR on the gun...

Axe....have you finished your 1.40"? I remember a few folks talking about doing one, but haven't seen a completed gun yet. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I was really unhappy with the way my Bisley .41 carried and balanced. It always got left at home in favor of a .44. I'm still a huge fan of the SBH grip frame. I only got sold on the Bisley when I stuck one on my .454 BFR. The SBH grip frame I have came off a gun I have been shooting 289 grain .44's at 1350. It was fine there, even pleasant. Besides, I'm not going to build up a gun to replace one I already have...which I am converting...which is why the barrel is available... And I might be thinking 1.4" .41...not wholly committed yet. Kinda waiting on someone else to give a report on one, and have a reamer laying about.. The max cylinder is a given tho, since the stock ruger .41 cylinder gives me a max OAL of 1.71. There is a slew of 265 gn and up bullets out there with .450 NTC lengths. I'm already doing a .44 and .45 with S&W barrels. No need to get too crazy.

Quick look at Midway.... Saw stainless 44 barrels. Hard to make a blue steel 41 out of a stainless 44.... ;D Looked again for 45s... No 45s either... Prices are good but special order and a 60 day wait...
