Like some opinions on this. I have a rifle that is blowing the top side edge of the primer out and leaking gas onto the bolt face and has caused some divots, which in turn then promote further flowing of the primers into those divots to continue to leak and compound the problem. I believe I know how this started and since stopped what I was doing, long story. Was using Win LR primers in this gun and switched to CCI 200 and shot it today with no further issues. Question is this: Is CCI the hardest shell primer out there, or something else? I know Wins are softer. Another rifle I have of my dads used to puncture Win primers and a switch to CCI cured it too. Thanks!

Thanks Snyd. It would seem there is no difference in thickness in LR primers. However there may be some difference in material or hardness as there is a definite difference in the way they behave. What is your opinion?

Great chart Snyd. Thanks for sharing that.
I'd always heard the CCI Military 5.56 primers were made harder.
