I wish I had a pic of this pig but he got in the swamp on me. I almost always carry my Kimber 45 and a Ruger Bisley 45 Colt. I had both today. I was heading to pick up a trailer on the back side of the farm. As I made the first curve in the road I spied something on the left that was outta place. It took a second for my eyes to focus in on the two hogs. I stopped quickly and grabbed the closest pistol and it was the Kimber. I didn't think about the distance I just knew the hog on the right was in range. I steadied the sights as I braced my wrists between the open truck door and the frame. I squeezed off the first shot and the pig went down. I fired two quick shots at the other hog and by that time the hog I shot made it to its feet and went back in the woods. I got back in the truck and eased down the road just a little bit before the hit hog came running out. It hit the road and fell and got back up and got to the swamp. About that time the second hog came out at the edge of the road and offered a shot. I had time but I hurried the shot and shot high. I couldn't follow up on the hog that was hit as it had rained 4" last night and the water was deep.
The connecting shot was about 50-60 yards away. It was a good lucky shot. Heavy on the luck. And what a rush of adrenaline when I least expected it.
Next time before i go out I'm slipping a rifle in the truck. I don't have one fit to be a truck gun. Guess I should buy one soon..........like in the morning!
There's nothing like a pig hunt to pass the time till deer season!
