I had one of those 99s in .303 Savage...took it in partial trade for a old Dodge P/U...I was young and inflicted with magnumitus...so, it's long gone...Classic old gun and cartridge.

I have a 303 myself! It isnt a Savage, in fact it is a British Military rifle my dear friend JohnK converted into a Jungle Carbine for me. Shoots too! The boys got ahold of it and were tearing a rock up with my ammo at over 600 yards.....
It remains a prize at my house!

Very nice. It is about hunting rather than killing. When my family (wife though with three sons and I hunting) showed up last June in Africa they, PH and Co., were a bit puzzled. An old 7x57 Mauser with a 1.5-5x Leupold, a short barreled pre-64 M70 358 Win with a 1.5-6X Leupold and a custom 8x57 Erfurt Mauser with a vintage Redfield receiver sight and their banded sourdough front. We all killed what we were after. It was a great hunt.

Yep I love hunting with my vintage guns and vintage optics. I always put more emphasis on the hunt than the kill. flexjr and I were talking about finding one of these vintage 99s 3 days before this one fell out of the sky. It is a great shooter as well. reflex264
