Generally speaking, what does it cost to have a new barrel installed? I'm thinking of trying to get my stainless Ruger NM 5.5" Bisley 45 convertible to shoot a little better. My 4 5/8" NMBH blued has given me groups at 50 yards just a little under 3". This Bisley ain't close and it won't quit leading even with fire lapping. Suppose it would need a new front sight as well, any particular front sight to recommend? Any other items to specifically address? Like forcing cone or crown or such? I've not done this on a revolver before. thanks for help This is one I put on a new shilen blank. Alpha Precision base w/replacable blade.

ward01,
I'm waiting on my beartooth fire lapping kit as I have the same issue you are having. I've been looking at purchasing some of the 300+ grain bullets to try. Exactly which 315 GC bullets are you using and where did you get yours? Or maybe you are referring to some that you cast yourself? I think I'm really wanting to try some out.
Thanks and good shooting!

I did cast the 315 GC bullets I was loading. They came from an RCBS mould designed for rifle use but it was casting a small .456 bullet which wouldn't work in the rifle so I tried sizing a few to .452 and it worked out. But I sent the mould back to RCBS for exchange for rifle usage. I have since purchased a 335 gr GC mould and an working on a load with that bullet. Looks good so far.
