Just back from a two day NSSF Lead Management/OSHA Compliance Workshop. Lots of stuff to consider. The EPA and OSHA are coming to get us. We'd better start getting our ducks in a row if we want to stay in the shooting business...

I know certain states have outlawed lead wheel weights. Some tire chains like Les Schwab are not using them anymore.

Way to much to really elaborate in detail here. Bottom line is very strict standards and very expensive fines. The NSSF has very good publications that are available to members.

If anyone "gets us" its going to be the EPA. They scare the crap out of me. Just think of all the businesses that have been shut down by them, not to mention the motorcycle fiasco from several years ago that "outlawed" kids dirtbikes. I personally see the government using the EPA against us like they use the IRS against organized crime.

Oh ya the EPA. The highly reputable gov agency that said that it was safe to breath the air and the dust down by the world trade center after 9/11. Safe, after how many mercury containing fluorescent light bulbs and who knows what else, was vaporized after the towers went down. Sorry for the sarcasm but at my age my BS level has been maxed out.

Buck, and everyone else dont take this lightly!!! Ironicly as a "lowly" wrench bender I have had to deal with OSHA and EPA at the SAME time for the last 27 years! Okay THE Constitution protects our Right To Bear Arms, The Gooberment cant do anything about that,at least for now,. So it has the EPA do EVERYTHING IT CAN, ie. 'Crack and Meth babies" on TV commercials,to get lead outlawed, which is the major part of our projectiles. THEN they get OSHA involved, which is the same gooberment agency when in cahoots with the EPA that has strangled MANY multi-BILLION dollar companies into going overseas, to make sure that the lead foundries and EVERY comercial bullet caster follows STRICT guidlines. Imagine every commercial caster being required to have some elaborate $20,000 air filtering system or be sued into the next millinium. Quite simply make it too costly to operate. Simple war tactics, bypass the strongholds and surround them. For now at least the 2nd protects us,but if you manufacture laws to put those companies out of business...... As I posted earler,in 2008 or so,the government passes a "normal" law to protect kids from lead, and suddenly I could not buy my 8 year old the dirt bike I had been making payments on for 4 months and my dealer and every dealer in the country were sitting on thousands of 100cc and smaller dirtbikes because there was lead in the valve stems and engine cases. Laugh and scoff now if you want but I am hoarding all the lead I can.

I got another 5gal. Bucket last week. Our tire guy (mostly trucks) is on my Christmas Card list. Find a source (or three) and take care of 'em. Heck, I've never cast a bullet in my life. Jus thinking long term.
