Which is a better utilization of vault space and shooting time -- a Freedom Arms 97 with dual cylinders (45 Colt/45 ACP) and 5 1/2 inch barrel or a 3rd generation Colt New Frontier in 44 Special ?

I would favor the New Frontier with a good action job as long as the fit and finish are good. I'm not one for FA's with that stainless finish. Caliber does not matter to me between the two as I can be very happy with either.

I would have and have gone with the New Frontier as said action job and custom grips its really a class gun.

Personally I took the JT route and traded for both! A bigger safe is the real answer... ;D

I'd grab the FA so fast that someone would say "who was that masked man?"

FA 357? Now I love my FA 353 but for a medium frame 357.... You need to hold a second generation Colt NF 357.... Sit in the dark and thumb that hammer back..

The FA97 in 357 is a sixgun. In anything bigger it's a fivegun. Done deal for me.

No contest -- FA hands down. In fact if I could have only one handgun in would be this 4 1/4" FA97 in .45 Colt. Although not a 5 1/2", it does have the 45 ACP aux cyl. For my hands, this is the best handling single action I have, you just don't want to put it down. Here's a 5 1/2 incher (this one is a .357 Mag) Paul

I'd grab the New Frontier without hesitation! Frank
PS: It'd get a lot of range/ woods bumming time. FV

I've found no other gun I've held has fit MY hand better than a 5.5" 45 round-butt M97 my dealer once had as far as feel and balance; never fired one though. Just my opinion, but the Colt wouldn't even get a second thought.
BTW, nice pair of FAs there Paul.
