Today, a friend of mine bought a 50th Anniv Ruger 44 Flattop from a man named Jerry from China Grove, NC. Along with the gun came a story. He said that, at some time in the past, Hank Williams Jr came to his house wanting to buy his 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler. He ultimately agreed to sell the car. Included in the deal were a few guns, among them this 44 Ruger. He bought the gun, not the story; but if Hank Jr owns(or owned) the Mercury, it would make the story mostly believable - and the gun much more interesting. Not an important topic, but kind-of interesting. Thanks

There is a shop here is MS owned by Steve Barnett that has/had several of his firearms. I have met him in Thad Scott Fine Guns in Indianola MS while he was looking at the old Colts Thad had. It wouldn't surprise me that someone ended up with his 50th. I believe he was known to be a trader

I don't know Hank Jr. but met him a couple times when he used to come into the Ford/Toyota Dealership I worked at in Missoula MT, Bitterroot Motors. He owns property in MT, it's where he fell off the mountain and about tore his face off. He bought a couple Toyota Landcruisers in the late 80's from us. I remember him driving a rig that had "blkhwk" for a personalized plate, he is a Ruger fan. It wouldn't surprise me that Hank may have owned the blkhwk. I suppose he's had more than one "His" logo is on all kinds of stuff.. hankjr.screenplaynashville.com/catalog/23

I believed his story. It would be neat to confirm it, though. Also another chance for some Hank anecdotes. Thanks

I have met & talked with him. Can't say I really know him. He is an interesting fellow, he really likes Colt SAAs! I believe he has or had a ranch in the Big Hole.

At one time he had the best collection of Rugers that was possible. Sounds like he's broken up that collection though.

Hank is apparently tight with the folks at Ruger. I read once that he was granted permission by them to use that Ruger hawk logo in his own "Hank" logo. Steve Barnett had several guns that they listed as "from the Hank Williams collection". I was interested in one of them so I sent an e-mail asking what sort of documentation was provided with the gun but I never got a reply.

he has some rugers that would make you drool over, even the one he fell off the mountian with.

I met him at National Gun Day one time. He came by my table and looked over my wares, stopping at my 6.5" S&W 1950 Military .44 Special (only about a dozen are known) and said "That's a rare one!" He was in blue jeans and a ratty flannel shirt. I didn't recognize him until he spoke. We chatted briefly about collectible S&Ws and he went on his way. I figured if he wanted to travel in cognito, then I would honor his anonymity. He moved FAST in the crowd, obviously not wanting to be recognized. One of my table partners knew him on sight and ran him down to talk with him. They talked politics for about 15 minutes. Seemed to me and my partner to be a genuinely nice guy. He once owned a very early Texas Longhorn Arms Flat Top Target. I got to photograph it a few years back.

A happy memory of Hank Jr: Circa 1980, I was having dinner in a favorite pizza joint in Missoula... Hank Jr. and several 'friends' also happened to be there, and were being loud and obnoxious and generally disturbing the peace. The owner of the establishment came to the table, quietly informed Mr. Jr. that he was disturbing the other patrons, and asked him to tone it down, lest he be invited to leave the premises. Hank Jr. bellowed "do you know who I am?", to which the owner calmly responded "I know your daddy was a famous country music singer...", at which point delighted chuckles were heard throughout the room. Mr. Jr. and entourage departed soon thereafter.

When you walk into hank Williams jr office past the big bear with the big cowboy hat you come to a big vault door type in the code open and walk into a room full off rifles and pistles in the corner of this room sets a gold plated Gatling gun and if your lucky he will let you hold the rifle that saved his life.
