I like the Waseca rollmark on those Powermags. I might have to get one for just that reason.
Who bought the assets of Herters and the brand? Gander? Sportsmans Guide?

Anybody ever 'flattop' a Powermag? That might change my whole opinion of them. If anyone has, would you mind posting a picture? Thanks

Mr. Bowen did one for Mr. Taffin back in the day. I have never seen a picture of it tho. It was also converted to 38-40 and had a SAA grip frame put on at the same time.

Lee, A stainless PowerMag. I have never heard of that one until now! Since I live here in GLH's hometown, I will have to chat with a couple of the old boys that worked for George and see if anyone remembers. One fellow is as much a gun nut as I am and worked there for years. He has a PowerMag in all calibers offered. If anyone would know...that is still living, he would. Will let you know what I find out.
Sack, I agree. That Waseca rollmark is cool. So is the postmark from downtown.
I am not going to say that a stainless PowerMag didn't happen, but, in the time frame the PowerMag was being produced there was not much happening with stainless steel in the revolver world with the exception at S&W. But,...you never know! Stranger things have happened.
Those grips are near impossible to find...I have looked at the gun shows for years to no avail.

I talked to a Herters collector back in the late 90s and he had a picture of it. I asked if it was just a hard-chromed Powermag and he swore Sauer built one out of stainless. I've tried for years to verify the prototype. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Lee & others following.
I just got off the telephone with the former Herter employee. We discussed the Stainless PowerMag. He did not know of it at all. Never heard of such a thing. My only thoughts are that perhaps the boys at Sauer & Sohns built one and it ended up in the states somehow. Knowing George, if it was his, you know his rollmark would have to be on it! He wouldn't want anyone to think that someone beat him to it.
More fuel for the fire.
